Quotes to Encourage - Post 2 - Why I love Do It Now and You will too!

Apr 09, 2019

What you do now is done!

You see one of the things that I have heard people say to me is that they look at my life and wonder how I get so much done. I have a motto in life if it is possible to Do It Now - I do it NOW! As in if someone wants to schedule a date with me to meet up - I pull out my phone and set it right then - it is easier to adjust something that is already on your schedule than to remember to go back and add something to you schedule.

There is so many benefits to the Do It Now motto and lifestyle...

  • you get a lot done - now
  • there is more time to play
  • there is less stress trying to remember what to go back to later
  • there is only now anyway - lol!
  • you can do it and forget it - frees your mind space for more creating!

I would love to hear your thoughts on the Do It Now motto... Have you ever used it? What are your thoughts on the theory that there is really only now anyway... later is an imaginative space in time that we 'think' may happen but in reality the only happening time is now.

Do you wonder where I learned this method? I have been doing it for the past 30 plus years. When I had heaps (five of my own - and they would bring friends over or I would babysit others so 8-10 was not unusual at our house - that feels like heaps, lol!)  of children at home I found myself becoming buried in always cleaning or feeling like the house got over whelming and during a time of illness I was unable to do much. When I got better I was so glad to have this mindset in my arsenal as for sure the house was a wreck.

I had read a book the Sidetracked Home Executives a few years earlier and in there was a statement that started me on the journey to this Do It Now lifestyle... the phrase they had was pick it up don't pass it up. The idea being if you were walking from the kitchen to the bathroom and you saw something on the floor - no matter how it got there you could choose to either... a. leave it there for the 'other person' to pick up later or you could simply pick it up don't pass it up and put it away. Only that one thing and you would think that it wouldn't do much. What it did though was had you looking for things you could do an accomplish along the way of living.

The other thing that I learned in that book was to find jobs that could be done in under 5 minutes and in between going from the kitchen to the bathroom do one of those quickie jobs - or while waiting for your children to put on their snow gear - a time consuming thing when that 3 year old is saying me do it myself! You want to encourage the independence so find that quickie job - get it done now and by the time you are done you may have a dressed child or they may be ready to ask you to help them. LOL!

Remember to...

Do It Now!
This is one of the greatest tools to getting things done...
What you do now is done!
